Producer and singer Cooly G returns after a lengthy release hiatus with a new single for Hyperdub that's a taste of her seriously good forthcoming debut album 'Playing Me', due early next year. The breathtaking, cosmic depth of 'Landscape' features production assistance from Simbad. In a very direct way it makes a case for Cooly's development and confidence as a singer but also her ability to mix immersive, frayed synths with catchy song writing and driving tribal drums that keep the whole track buoyant. The flip side ' It's serious', made with legendary Baltimore house producer Karizma, has a pitch black atmosphere, with dubbed, echoey voices and synths spiralling out of the mix, weaving in and out of some seriously flipped, tough funky kicks and snares and a loose kettle drum.
