Its the late 1970s and in the streets of Spanish Harlem, set against a backdrop of race riots and poverty, a strangely familiar sound was emanating from nightclubs and AM radios alike. Charanga 76 were taking the hits from downtown and making them their own as well as writing original tracks in a similar and equally killer vein. Their versions of Aint No Stopping Us Now, Good Times and their own track, Music Trance serve as a blueprint for the wave of latino disco acts that followed.
