After a refreshing and vibey summer of sun, beats & parties, DEXT HQ is firing up for our next release which is set to drop this Autumn It is an absolute pleasure to welcome back one of our stable artists, Callahan, for the follow up to his well-received DEXT debut Don't Need.
Callous EP shows the same rawness and intensity of his earlier work but with a more polished and refined production sound, focusing on a few key elements that are executed to perfection.
Right from the off, the title track Callous draws you in with its haunting and somewhat dystopian synth line that rides along the track's jagged percussion.
The result is the kind of danceable groove that has become the calling card of the more exciting techno music to come out of the UK in recent years.
With the second track, OB, we are back on more familiar terrain with a straight up four to the floor banger that keeps the energy levels high with a solid groove and swinging drums made to move the dancefloor.
Next up is another well-loved DEXT artist who has been a massive supporter of our label and the UK scene. It's Lo Shea on remix duties, with the aptly named 4am Strobe Tunnel Remix.
Within 16 bars of the first kick, his reputation for making killer techno tunes is cemented, with this heads down, dark and moody, beautifully rolling techno tune.
This is a remix with a distinctive UK edge, reflecting Lo Shea's reputation for tirelessly pushing the scene through his Hope Works club nights in Sheffield.
Rounding off the EP, Callahan strips things right down for Memorex.
This tune is characterized by staggered 808 bass kicks and a sinister three note hook, the sounds combining to make a powerful peak-time jam for the heads. Less is certainly more with this tune!
