"Meet me in the rear," he said. So I went... And so goes the mantra for Mystery Meat, the Rotten Apple's latest and greatest conduit for edits and reworks of yesteryear's finest dancefloor moments. Helmed by Chinatown's wildest disco proponents, the unnamed gentleman prefers to let the music do the talking, or rather, inspire the arse-wiggling. First up from this cloak and dagger operation is none other than Brinton McKay, better known as techno hero John Selway. The man's something of a legend, having co-produced some of Deep Dish's earliest - and arguably finest - moments, not to mention being one-half of techno stalwarts Smith & Selway, a part of NYC supergroup Rancho Relaxo Allstars with Abe Duque, and one-half of Neurotic Drum Band, whose forthcoming EP on Wurst is an anthem and then some! Selways dons his Brinton McKay nom de plume for the inaugural Mystery Meat release, and what a 12" it is! "Spindle" sees a bizarre, Soviet-era Russian exercise record radically reworked from its dubious origins into a disco-fueled acid beast! This tune works every time, and is a guaranteed floor-filler no matter the situation. "Warlord Control" treads a darker path, and in fact fuses two different, highly regarded French and Canadian rarities together. Welcome to the club, now wait your turn for the next Mystery Meat excursion.
