The plastic palm trees of failing to convincingly conjure a warm, breezy coastal location from musical raw materials alone are many and varied. It's an alchemy that only a handful of artists can deliberately invoke, given the purest forms of the genre are mostly accidental, out of context or repurposed. Andy Compton (of Rurals fame) and a duo of Californian collaborators Brad Kent & Irantzu Pujades together with a fully analogue studio environment have made a near perfect audio representation of that elusive 'sunset moment'.
