After unleashing one of last year's most beloved releases on KOMPAKT with the "Lovers In Limbo EP", London-based, Montreal proud Anstascia and Vivie-Ann aka BLOND:ISH didn't take long to establish themselves as the act to look out for in 2013. In a rare congruence, this particular duo infernale feeds on both style and substance, proven once again by INWARD VISIONS, a dark and twisted dance floor tale full of uncanny visitations and unexpected outcomes.
To call it epic would be stating the obvious: NO PLACE LIKE GNOME is a banger of massive proportions and a powerful introduction to BLOND:ISH's latest slice of club psychedelics. Rigged to explode any moment, this track confidently prances on the brink of utter mayhem, summoning the great desert leviathan with foreboding synths and sandblasted drums straight out of an obscure Australian exploitation flick. Fringe pop at its very best, it's bound to serve as money shot in DJ crates worldwide, bringing you those sweet, sweet goose bumps you're craving for... we know you do.
Speaking of goose bumps, we turn our attention to the flipside where title track INWARD VISIONS holds court. Supplemented with ghostly incantations from vocalist BEYOU, it replaces the nocturnal siege courtesy of NO PLACE LIKE GNOME by the eerie twilight of a battle's aftermath, reeling through shimmering heat and dust-swollen mirages. A wanderer in an apocalyptic landscape, BLOND:ISH's narrator is far from a defeatist point of view: there remains a glimmer of humanity, a drop of precious water seething underneath the track's sun drenched surface.
