Early last year, Baron Zen teamed up with regular collaborator, Tekblazer, to release the �Electrik Surgery� EP on their long-time home, Stones Throw Records. The EP included guest spots from the likes of underground heroes such as Megabusive, Tchaka Diallo, Nathan No Face, Zackey Force Funk, Gary Davis and Stones Throw�s Koushik. Executive produced by Peanut Butter Wolf and with a sleeve designed by Matt Rowland/Liger Vision (based on the sleeve for The Wreckin Cru's 1984 electro classic �Surgery�), the EP evoked the spirit of that classic era of electronic sound and innovation. Now, almost a year on, skweee pioneer Daniel Savio has produced remixes of two tracks from �Electrik Surgery�, namely �Bass Attack�, and �Goodtimes� (featuring Megabusive), for this 7� on the burgeoning UK-based Astro:Dynamics label. Savio�s strutting and swaggering percussion fuses with the golden-era energy of the originals, making this cross-hemisphere link-up the perfect fit. Add to that the artwork, which has also been expertly designed and illustrated by Stones Throw�s Matt Rowland/Liger Vision (building on the theme from the original EP sleeve), and you have a pretty sweet little package.
