Wires, the new label from Oliver Ho follows on from the debut release with a new project called 'ATLAS’, a collaboration between Oliver and old friend Tommy Gillard. Tommy released a series of deep techno records on the uk labels Arc, Figment and his own label Roguebeat. The Atlas project is mostly deep detroit techno in style with added experimental excursions that take an influence from Warp electronica. The first track “Rails” is powered by a relentless bass line that constantly drives us on the dancefloor, over this we have moments of gear changes and melodic peaks. Like Kraftwerk meets Carl Craig on a train journey across europe. The second track,“Tract” balances the energy with an abstract excursion into deep dub tones and industrial white noise and echoing sirens. Next we have “Liquid”, another slow burning groove powered by a seductive bassline, featuring a deep synth wash and echoing vocal that repeats the phrase “form and emptiness”. Lastly comes “Wooden Hill”, an
electronica piece, it features delicate music box like melodies joined by a strange warped childs vocal.
