Following up the absolutely huge ‘Levels’ featuring MC Stapleton, Crystal Clear again slides effortlessly between his roles as producer and label boss at Cold Blooded. This time he brings through more fresh talent in the form of A.M.C, who moves the label into yet more unchartered territory as he lands with this deep and funky release. Alex Mark Calvert aka A.M.C has been making a real name for himself behind the decks for the past few years. His residency on DNBTV, where he performs with boundless energy mixing old with new in an unmistakeable style, has found him fans around the world. During this time he has also been perfecting his skills in the studio and if this debut on Cold Blooded is anything to go by – this is a name we’ll be hearing a lot more from.
‘Time’ is an emotive slice of forward thinking Drum and Bass showing a maturity in A.M.C’s productions well beyond his years. Light shuffling beats combine with a haunting vocal and infectious synth lead all underpinned by growling bass and sublime atmospherics. Time also featured on the recent huge DNBA Summer Selections album.
‘Elekton’ is deep atmospheric D&B cut, but on this number it’s the bass that does the talking, cutting right through the track with perfectly placed FX’s bouncing off it as it twists and turns on its journey.
