Noted as the Bob Marley of Ivory Coast, Africa, Alpha Blondy helped create the template for 'world music' in the 1980s with a succession of hit albums that blended contemporary African perspectives with Jamaican reggae. Released in 1986, "Jerusalem" includes some of Blondy’s most popular songs and features the original (Bob Marley) Wailers Band throughout. The theme of the album is unification of Islamic, Jewish and Christian people through music. The songs are passionate, joyful and infectious. Blondy sings in English, French, Hebrew and his native language – Dioula. The album helped define international reggae in the global marketplace and is revered as a classic today.
Ivorian musician Alpha Blondy has recorded 17 albums during an outstanding career that has led him around the globe spreading faith and love in the music.
