Side A, featuring Hubbard, is a tour de force of straight ahead jazz You can tell this session was recorded last because the rhythm section is locked and loaded to perfection. Side B, more mellow and risk-taking, sounds just like an ECM Abercrombie session from 4 years prior, but with the titular superstar on piano.Hutcherson (C) is slightly reserved, with a beautiful Latin arrangement of "The Seeker".Blythe(D) on alto, cooks and burns, respectable playing.
