Many of you will no doubt already be familiar with Jorg Follert's work as Wechsel Garland and Wunder on labels like Morr and Karaoke Kalk, but this release sees him turning away from more explicitly electronic work in favour of a more stripped-down naturalistic sound focussing on the timbres of acoustic instruments. At the heart of the record is the gentle melancholy of Follert's remarkable ability to weave miniaturised instrumental music from the barest of elements. Of the nineteen tracks, only two break the three-minute mark: the vaprous 'Watching The Watching' and the reverberating bossa nova and Rhodes piano of 'A Little Travelling'. Best of all is probably, 'The Garden', a piece which comes across like a fantasised collaboration between Serge Gainsbourg and Rachel's and demonstrates Follert impressive skills as a multi-instrumentalist. Lovely stuff.
