Austin, Texas is largely known as being home to one of the most organic and celebrated music communities in the world and White Denim, the four-piece rock outfit hailing from the musical hotbed, has helped to establish that reputation over the past five years. With years of touring and press recognition from outlets such as the New York Times, Pitchfork, Filter, Spin, Rolling Stone and more behind them, James, Josh, Steve and Austin stepped into the studio in 2010 to re-envision how they see a hard rock band sounding, making songs that draw inspiration from across the board -Patto and Lee Hazelwood to Little Feat and Dukes of Stratosphear. The end result lends itself to a softer sound crafted for their upcoming studio album, D, slated for release in North America on Downtown Records on May 24th, available worldwide in all digital and retails outlets simunlataneiously for the first time. Recorded over three weeks at a studio on Lake Travis in Austin and self-produced, D stands on White Denim's combination psych/punk rock sound backed by frenetic and meandering guitar riffs and live-to-tape percussion. New album material will be previewed this year at Downtown Music Festival on March 4th at Webster Hall and SXSW (dates below), including the first single 'Drug' premiered today on RCRD LBL. As this marks the band's fourth studio album, they chose the fourth letter of the alphabet- D - to represent what is truly their finest and most versatile work to date.
''White Denim, a mercurial three-piece band from Austin, Tex., makes rugged, fidgety, overdriven garage rock sweetened with a psychedelic swirl.'' - NEW YORK TIMES
''a quality dose of hearty garage rock and punk rock aesthetic'' - SPIN
''No matter how you get it, the band's chopped-funk delirium is effortless sorcery, evoking Talking Heads' dancing-bones rock, the dervish thrash of the Minutemen and the Strokes' pneumatic-guitar pop.'' - DAVID FRICKE for ROLLING STONE
