V.I.V.E.K. has very much been putting the “dub” into dubstep recently, both by means of his spacious 140bpm productions, and the “System” event he runs with Mala, where he uses his self-built soundsystem to pound avid crowds into a deep dub coma. Keeping faith with the original spirit of UK dubstep, V.I.V.E.K. uses his sense of space to thoughfully pace out his powerful sonic blows to maximum effect. 'Against The Tide' builds initially with old school Metalheadz style pads and neatly clipped soulful vocal cuts before suddenly unleashing the full weight of bass, championed by the sound of a demented robot war-cry, charging full force into the night... it takes a very skilled producer to present the old-school sentiments of dubstep in an energised, progressive way, yet V.I.V.E.K. has achieved exactly that because he IS exactly that. More like this please! Similar sonic flavours are echoed in 'Trinity', which takes the momentum of 'Against The Tide' into darker territories, letting some of V.I.V.E.K.'s more junglistic influences shine through in the process.
