Last time out, Much Love impressed DJs and record buyers the world over with a sought-after 12' featuring tracks from James Johnston, Bartellow, Roman Rauch and label owners Alkalino & Alphabet City.
For the label's third release, Much Love's bossmen take a backseat and hand the reigns over to a quartet of emerging and up-and-coming production talents. The results are, thankfully, every bit as intoxicating as previous releases.
Four tracks, four hot talents, four killers. Much Love all round.
First up is MIKE GILL, a house producer whose star is certainly on the rise. His productions have caught the ears of many discerning heads, and he'll soon release a 12' on Wolf + Lamb. Here, he delivers 'PRANKSTAR', a low-slung chunk of basement funk built around a heady, acid-tinged groove. Think sweaty cellars, saucer eyes and early mornings spent dancing under the stars.
Next to step forward is LINTRONNIX, a producer who has previously provided talked-about remixes for Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem, Space Ranger and Ursula 1000. Here he joins forces with pal SAMM for 'MUSIQUE CONCRETE', an hypnotic slice of deep house goodness. With its' ascending and descending strings and robust grooves, it sounds like classic Detroit techno for the nu-disco generation.
Flip over to the B for an essential contribution from FIL LAVIN. Young Filip has already come to the attention of househeads thanks to hot recent releases on Retrospective and Scucci Manucci. 'FEEL AS I DO' is typical of his wide-eyed, touchy-feely style, mixing classic electrofunk and disco influences with synth-heavy house grooves. By the time the vocal sample drops, you'll be reaching for the lazers with a mile-wide grin on your chops.
The EP concludes with a cut from another emerging talent, London-based producer DEBONAIR. Part of uber-cool club collective Tapped, Debonair has recently delivered killer cuts on House of Disco and Whiskey Disco. Here he offers up 'TRANS EXPRESS', a dubbed-out chunk of disco-tinged deepness that sounds like it was beamed down from far-off star. Like the rest of the EP, it delivers killer hooks and intoxicating grooves in spades.
