First to drop is the ‘Mi Yo’, a super-rare slice of pounding tribal drum-driven afro funk, originally released in 1984 and presented here in a DJ-friendly extended edit, then Sharon Bailey’s amazing ‘Cosmic Dust’, an in-demand slo-mo Salsoul oddity from 1981 still receiving heavy rotation from DJs such as Harvey and the Idjut Boys. Flip over for ‘Time Actor’, a nine-minute electronic dance epic from Richard Wahnfried, an alias of German experimentalist Klaus Schulze, followed by the Baldelli-favoured 7” version of the Belle Stars’ percussive pop gem from 1982 ‘Iko Iko’. The second disc keeps the pressure up with the heavy mid-tempo Afro-electro vibe of KSB’s Misaluba plus chugging funk workout ‘The Pressure’ from South London outfit 400 Blows and Ryuchi Sakamoto’s stunning analogue synth dreamscape ‘Plastic Bamboo’.
