Across the length and breadth of the albums’ 28‐track span, Mosaic Vol.2 is the second chapter of label boss dBridge’s mission
statement to marry disparate sounds on a mixed‐artist album whilst triumphantly steering clear of convolution.
The albums’ roll call lists luminaries emanating from all spheres of electronic music ‐ ranging from US footwork impresario and
frequent Jimmy Edgar collaborator Machinedrum, who chimes in with a soulful synth‐heavy jam on ‘The Palace’ to the increasingly
potent combination of Om Unit & Sam Binga with the pair continuing in their rich vein of form on the label and wistfully amalgamating
influences from jungle, dubstep and funk on album highlight ‘Triffidz’.
Some familiar faces from Mosaic Vol.1 make welcome appearances the second time around with Skeptical taking no prisoners on the
unrelenting ‘Eyes Down’ and Synkro mastering the art of melancholy on sun‐kissed cut ‘The Way’. Former partners in crime Boddika
and Jon Convex appease fans of the notorious
Autonomic sound under their Instra:mental guise with sinister offering ‘Fist Level 2B’ and dBridge himself shows yet more dynamism
in his production direction on juxtaposing efforts ‘Not Known’ and ‘My Night Sky’.
The albums’ kaleidoscopic nature means that haunting dancefloor‐pleasing emissions like ‘Eric Bristow’ by ST Files can sit
comfortably next to the immersive textures of CMX’s spacious ‘Tesserae’ and sombre project closer ‘After Beris’ from Blackpocket
aka Steve Spacek.
Mosaic Vol.2 encompasses all of the distinct nuances that Exit Records has come to be associated with in its 10‐year existence –
shirking expectations and consistently offering new avenues for uncontrived sonic exploration. It’s a testament to the label’s ethos
that after a decade in operation they continue to be regarded to as a constant source of innovation and consistently re‐defining
themselves whilst doing so.
