After the smash that was Shatnereffekt One, Handsette Recordings return with another essential array of electronics. Bringing a host of diverse and super talented artists from around the world together on one massive EP, Elektronische Unterhaltungsmusik 1… roughly translated as Electronic Light Entertainment Music!
On the EP we have…
Kritical Audio - Spandex
Slow on the heels of the Swedish duo's 2006 braindance monster 'Krupp', Kritical Audio have once again come up trumps with a dancefloor hammer! An itchy slice of razor sharp electrofunk with a burbling acid bassline that's currently being caned by Surgeon and Rob Hall (who says, ‘I’ve been playing the Kritical Audio track a lot. Good stuff’)… this is a BIG tune!
Miles Tilmann - Spirex
A wonky off beat gives way to some wacked-out rubbery bassline action and a lead line that could have come from the keyboard hands of Harold Faltemeyer or Parliament's Bernie Worrell. Spirex is one of the most intriguing tracks we have heard in a long while... part wonky electro, part spazzed-out glitchy funk; a truly inspired piece of work.
C. Mantle - That Other Eden
Fearsome and delicate, morose and savage, 'That Other Eden' is a serious piece of dancefloor heft. Reese basslines burble under a clattering beat before dropping away into a slightly terrifying double-drop breakdown. Massive subs underpin this electro-dubstep monster. Watch yer bass bins I'm telling yer!
Unity Gain Temple - Sahmo
The EP rounds out with a glistening, truly beautiful piece of work. The Trieste-deep kicks of the intro are met by a rush of lush chords and deft touches of melody, driving the track into a space that is pure audio luxury. Reminiscent of Brothomstates, Arovane and Tipper's more contemplative moments...
