After hitting us with a slew of impressive releases on their monochromatic sub labels, the London label launch their latest offshoot 'Church Volumes' with this sultry four tracker. This first volume brings together friends and contemporaries from Peckham, LA and Vancouver for some hazy, vaped out house manouevres. Montreal based, vancouver bred production wizz Project Pablo starts the party, following up on the massive "I Want To Believe" on 1080p with another deep and dazed dancefloor cut. Fusing house, street soul and boogie with ease, Project Pablo lays vintage synth licks over a funked up drumtack and rubbery bassline for the essential Vancouver cut! Next up Californian duo Darnum Samp swing their low rider into view for "Therm2", a humid house cut packed with atmosphere. Scattershot rims and crisp snares boss the top end and a lumbering bass wobble shakes the ground beneath your feet, setting the scene for the g-funk synth flute to move your body like a snake. If you're still seeking out that mainroom play then hit the B-side for label head Apes' "Vanilla Ice". The speakers buzz to a smudged 4/4 and heavyweight Fingers bassline, heating the club up to just the right temperature for the smothering pads, balmy keys and woozy ("Play" era Moby) vocal sample - Big! Label favourites and rising stars FYI Chris close the set with the hypnotic tones of "Happy Edward", a sparse arrangement of hissing hats, techy bleeps and rumbling organ bass perfect for matching the mood of the cold winter nights.
