The sister label to Canada´s finest new boogie and disco breaks label, Homebreakin Records, Punchout Recordings brings funk, hiphop, and disco classics up-to-date with tougher beats, dancefloor-ready arrangements, and strong modern production. Their first release, HiScore100, sold out quickly on vinyl and will be released digitally soon.
HiScore 200 provides a set of must-have summer party rockers- starting off with the devastating breaks jam Body Slam by none other than Neighbour, Canada´s nu-boogie master. The sharp break sets off a monstrous analogue bassline, which provides a perfect bed for the old-school rap that carries the tune.
Westside Slide offers a refreshingly funky, tough take on the Canadian rap classic "Let Your Backbone Slide" by Maestro Fresh Wes. Fans of Goodgroove, Funk Weapons, and Jalapeno will love the head-nodding break, and any funk fan will definitely oblige the chorus lyrics by loosening their spinal columns for a freakout.
Lastly, URB revives a classic boogie riff and combines it with dubby vocals and FX to great effect. The not-so-secret MC chops hint at what it might have been like if the 90´s best rappers could have worked with the tightest disco bands of the 80´s.
