A: Brandt Brauer Frick - Melancholie II (Lee Jones Watergate Remix) B1:Mymy - Mymorial B2: Acid Pauli - December Watergate records returns with their fourth vinyl edition. Once again it focuses on exclusive tracks from the highly successful mix CD series, named simply after the club: Watergate. This, now the seventh edition, is mixed by resident and versatile producer Lee Jones, and features a fine selection of nearly almost exclusive tracks. Three have already been featured on the ‘Peacock EP’. Continuing with their tribute to the animal kingdom, albeit this time a little something for the ladies in the house with the ‘Peahen EP’. Along with their counterparts, dOP and Wareika, three piece forward thinking Electronic music band, Brandt Brauer Frick, have breathed fresh air into the club scene. With their live acts and most especially with their melodic, harmonic and truly human influence have their tracks standing a cut above sample based computer music. Their exclusive track, ‘Melancholie II’, gets the remix treatment from Mr. Jones, which results in a crafty musical club number. ‘Mymorial’, is - non pun intended - the swan song from MyMy. After many years Lee and Nick have amicably decided to lay the name to rest. However, they have done it exactly how one would expect: with class. A soothing number with depth provided by analog synth pads, that harmonize seamlessly with warm and luscious bass line. All filled out with some intricate echoes vocal programming. With a track like this it is sad to see them go. Mystery man, Acid Pauli’s, ‘December’, aesthetically could remind one of the winter that is slowly approaching. A deep low slung kick, is the driving force behind sparse melodies and what almost sounds like a field recordings. Basic Channel fans will love this for its ability to associate, without copying. A 12″ that marks the beginning and the end of eras. A collectors item indeed, but also a record that will get more than its share of rotations on the club
