As one of Dubstep’s perennial heavy-hitters, the name Tunnidge has become synonymous with the suffocating levels of sub-bass
ever present in his beats. October sees him step up to the plate again with the Brixton Bass EP, featuring four tracks of weaponsgrade
sound system punishment that will rock you from your chest right down to your feet.
The title track ‘Brixton Bass’ kicks things off with a drop like a tonne of bricks straight to the face, accompanied with a grinding synth
attack on your senses and a heaving, club-destroying bassline to give you a taste of things to come. ‘Empty Spaces’ is a low-slung
and snarling roller, bristling with pent up energy and deliberate, probing kick drums that punch through your speakers like a
young Mike Tyson.
There is no let up with Wardrum, as it surges forward with jolting drum patterns and tough, industrial synths to keep your ribs rattling.
The mood deepens on ‘Dark Future’ as Tunnidge creates a tense and malevolent atmosphere with a vivid technicolor backdrop of
melody, vibrant drum
samples and guttural growls of low frequency.
Supported by the whole Chestplate gang and some of the Dubstep community’s biggest DJs, this is weighty sound system design at
its best and perhaps the heaviest collection of beats to emerge out of Tunnidge’s studio yet.
