* Following on from 008, Synkro's 'Look at Yourself' EP,Mindset are proud to introduce yet another debut 12" for newcomer Troy Gunner. A young producer from the outskirts of Bath UK, still in his teenage years and has a keen ear and rich palette of sounds which he works from. All field recorded and implemented into his work, creating pure textures and a unique sonic collage. What stands out for us are his unique infectious melodies and vocal manipulation.
* Troy has gained support from Biome, BunZer0 (sub.fm), Compound One, Dark Sky, DFRNT, KingThing, George Fitzgerald, Gill Mills (Radio 1/NME), Ifan Daffyd, Indigo, June Miller, Sepalcure, Synkro, Versa & Whistla (L2S).
* 'Fool's Gold' opens the 12 with sparse 2 step rhythms, heavy swing and lush chords spread across the stereo field. The melodic hook gets you every time and the use of technical edits and cuts gives it a character that is hard to match. Driving forward with a very interesting arrangement, stopping and starting which keeps you on your toes but never looses the pulse.
* 'Head in Hands' is a subdued, triplet infested syncopation workout. Still enough to cut it in the club...but holding its own for the listen at home, it oozes passion. Sliding pads and glitched out beats whisk you away into a dreamy, spaced out state. This one gives the feeling of lounging on a cloud of smoke floating through space. One for the astral travelers.
* 'Dancing in the leaves' picks the pace back up as a chilled roller, with a drop that will make you weak at the knees. Falling to nothing but the pad and sub bass, with a twinkling melody to accompany. Moving with dance floor shuffle and a gradual progression, but with a calmness and groove to get locked into. Beautifully crafted and bursting at the seams with positive energy, to take you on a vibes rollercoaster!
* After vinyl debut's from Indigo, xxxy, AnD, Kowton, Hatti Vatti & HxdB the Mindset roster is representing a corner of the scene which is gaining headway at a continuous rate. Artists have gone on to represent Exit, Autonomic, Styrax, Horizontal Ground, Fabric, R&S, Brownswood and many more.
