Musically, "Never Listen To Me" and its B-side "There Is Always A Reason" find The Thermals treading new ground. Unlike the power-chord powered raucous sing-alongs The Thermals are famous for, these songs are driven primarily by the rhythm section, with the guitar and vocals taking on a more subtle, subdued role. Like most Thermals songs, on the surface they appear quite simple. But these songs expand and collapse in new exciting ways, and are a good indication of where The Thermals are heading.
