This concert is a rarity: A live recording of the 1959 performance of the Modern Jazz Quartet's (MJQ), one of the longest-lasting and popular combos in the history of jazz, at the Beethovenhalle in Bonn. The new mastered recording is based on the original tapes. Released for the first time, the listener can now experience the fantastic atmosphere of the concert with the legendary announcements by pianist John Lewis. A significant part of the MJQ's charm was due to the artistic tension between the vibraphonist Milt Jackson and the pianist John Lewis. What those two very diverse characters personified on the small scale also linked the quartet as a whole: the get-together of downright classical awareness for form and black blues feeling. First-time release of the legendary concert on LP 180g special edition; Advertisements in all major German jazz- and music magazines e.g. Jazzthing, Jazzpodium, Fono Forum, among others; Reviews in all leading daily papers, journals and magazines, Radio programmes about the releases.
