OVERVIEW:
Their free album “Chariot”, which they recorded in 3 days, has racked up over 150,000 downloads on BandCamp, they got nominated at the Choice Music Awards and, just last week, their upcoming single “Family” was played twice by Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 show. There is little doubt, therefore, that the Irish quartet of The Cast of Cheers are a band in rapid ascent.
“Family” is the first taster from their debut album proper, produced by Luke Smith (ex-Clor) and set for release in 2012, and a roaring, ripsnorting beast of a track it is too; cramming its sweet and succinct 2:30 running time with urgent, call to arms vocals, pummelling basslines, razor sharp guitars and an unerring instinct for the jugular, with lyrics like “they keep coming to the door and it’s all out war” sending everything skittering out of control. It’s a tantalising teaser of what’s to come from this vital new band, and one which you’ll be able to see for yourself when they hit London for their debut shows in January.
