"I Zimba / Pull Up The Roots / Once In A Life Time / Born Under Prunches"
A unique collection featuring four rarities from the early career of genre-straddling New Wave heroesTalking Heads that all became hits on the underground dancefloors of New York and Chicago. First up is the brilliant 1979 African influenced ‘I Zimbra’, a tough tribal workout with hypnotic bongo beats and chants. Next comes ‘Pull Up The Roots’ with its fantastic uptempo guitar riff, slap bass and David Byrne’s unmistakable voice. Flip over for the grinding hypnotic groove of much celebrated off-the-wall dancefloor bomb ‘Once In A Lifetime’. And finally, another down-tempo burner ‘Born Under Punches’, once again taking the disco into dirty and dark territory with a rough relentless b-line and mournful discordant vocals. A superb sampler of the originality and genius of the early Talking Heads - great stuff!
