A1 Misleading B1 Positive Expression
DESCRIPTION
Subb-an is currently leading the pack of young wolves in UK house music, building a searing live set and etching a score of compelling productions that belie his 23 years. Crosstown Rebels have snapped up his latest EP -Misleading - featuring LA vocalist Anomaly Jones - a double hitter that proves Subb-ans got fire in his belly and is heading for the big time.
Showcasing the young producer’s authentic live sound, both tracks on the EP beg to be played loud and large for maximum effect. With A-Side ‘Misleading’, Subb-an brings a touch of European electro darkness with driving rhythms and rumbling bass heavy textures. It’s an epic trip, crossing soaring synths with shooting meteors and the ever-present eerie soul of Anomaly Jone’s arcane voice echoing all the way. ‘Positive Expression’ is driven by the galloping percs hypnotically rolling underneath a wash of warm pads that rise and collide with the intricate drum patterns and brooding bass. The lingering vocals from Anomaly Jones carry both gravity and delicacy, saturating the deep tumbling terrain with their dramatic resonance.
A notorious grafter and studio obsessive, Ashique Subhan aka Subb-an has certainly got his eye on the prize and the talent to see him to the top. At only 23 years old, he’s achieved more in his career than some artists ten years his senior with choice output labels including Leftroom, Culprit, Spectral Sound and more forthcoming material from S.A.S, his moniker with Adam Shelton. From his early days as a resident and co-promoter at the infamous Below parties in Birmingham to running the One Records label with long time collaborator Shelton, Subb-an’s fast rise to prominence is all down to a relentless passion for house music and drive to make people dance.
Based in LA, Anomaly Jonez is a Radio DJ and passionate singer discovered by Subb-when he used her vocals for ‘Misleading’. Subb-an then wrote ‘Positive Expression’ and sent to Anomaly directly to lay down the original vocal and the result is typically fresh.
