I'm a Cliché is proud to present a self-titled mini-LP by Stiletti-Ana aka Ilari Larjosto, the legend of Helsinki's underground.
What are the man's credentials, you ask? Well, Larjosto is a drummer, producer, session musician for multiple bands and a mixing, mastering and recording engineer for countless projects. He's dedicated his whole life to music making and sound engineering in its all forms. Truly an omnipresent figure in the Helsinki underground, he's got his finger on pretty much every button in the world of Scandinavian electronic music while he sits in the control room of his dungeon studio on a fortified island off the Finnish capital's coast.
The man's involved in many popular projects such as K-X-P, Tähtiportti, DJ Candle in The Wind, Jimi Tenor, Randy Barracuda, and acclaimed band JESSE.
He's tasked renowned media artist Harri Larjosto (who by pure coincidence happens to be his father) to direct the video for Universe Carrier, the opening track on the mini-LP. UNIVERSAL CARRIER Opening the EP is this track of endless vertical ascent thanks to fuzzy melody and a galloping bassline. Percussion sounds gradually emerge and the result is a richly layered and highly danceable track indebted in equal amounts to krautrock and disco. TROUGH THE SKYLINE I HEARD UR VOICE A slow jam with an utterly uplifting and playful vibe. It's a bouncy analog affair with larger than life drum machines and maximal synth work tailored for dancing. If there ever was bleep & bass made in an italo disco style, this is it. SILVER
This track is an invitation to dive into the deeper side of Stiletti-Ana. It begins beatless before a plodding rhythmic section finds its way into the mix. Melodic and full of flutter, this track manages to be gracefully ethereal while never losing its dancefloor potential. MOTORS Structured around a sturdy beat and a throbbing bassline wrapped around it, this track is full of catchy and dramatic hooks compelling the dancefloor to shake it. Add a breakdown with a delightful melody that contrasts with the track's moodiness and you've got yet another great example of Stiletti-Ana's unique style. THEY KNEW THEIR TIME WAS CUMMING A stomping groove, rasping bass, precious synth melodies and tubular bells thrown in for good measure. Power and melody are combined on this highly danceable track that does not compromise on creating a special atmosphere. TIME WE LEFT THIS WORLD TODAY (PART2) Closing the mini-LP is this blissed out track, an invitation to free yourself from your earthly shackles and leave your surroundings to explore other worlds. Layers of haunting melody and an understated yet efficient beat make this track a weapon of choice for early and late sets.
