Sports Boyfriend is at once unapologetically minimal and surprisingly lush. Never forced, her voice hangs soft and languid in the air, lingering like night-blooming jasmine or some déjà vu you cannot place. Title track 'Pop Psychology' coyly plays the part of ‘effortless cool’ before jumping into the desperate clamouring of 'Waiting By The Phone;' while the breezy yet meditative 'Like I Left' quickly dissipates into the insouciant 'I Don’t Care If You’re Alone.'
