Scottish party crew Jelly Roll Soul (responsible for giving the likes of Kyle Hall, Specter, Funkineven & Jay Daniel their Scottish debuts) celebrate their 5th birthday by getting in to the record game.
Their first release comes from London based Scot, Sirrahttam with the out there house wanderings of his Tanz EP. A1 ‘Linear Patterns’ does exactly NOT what the title suggests, instead its basic constituent parts warp and mutate constantly over an agitated rhythm, never quite at peace with itself - deep, disorientating stuff. B1 ‘Trees’ is a fucked up take on a 90s house bomb that skips & bumps in all the right places but like the flip, can’t sit still for long, it’s groove constantly reinventing itself whilst squeezing new life out of an old Maya Angelou vocal snippet. B2 ‘Moving on Slowly’ is a bass heavy lament for something lost, reminiscent of Stinson & Donald’s more tranquil moments, tying up the EP in serene style….
