Ever since Goldie and his contemporaries helped to shape and form drum & bass into a globally recognised genre of music there have been constant detractions claiming that the style has run out of steam and it’s all been done before. However, each time D&B feels stagnant and outdated, an artist always pops up with a completely fresh take on the formula, something invigorating and surprising (think High Contrast in 2001). One listen to this single on Metalheadz premiere ‘Platinum’ imprint and you may just be convinced that wouldn’t be too high praise to lie at Sinistarr’s door. Uniting interesting sounds, a production style that just flows with an audible sense of class and an attitude to drum & bass that escapes the constant flow of ‘dancefloor bangers’, Sinistarr has crafted a two-track masterpiece from the comfort of his studio.
