The remastered version of this classic comes with a remix by Todd Terje and a new version by Simon Baker himself.
A veritable underground summer anthem back in 2007, SIMON BAKER's PLASTIK was the right track at the right time - a deceptively simple cut that focussed on its raw groove and slowly undulating synth riff, successfully rinsing off the minimal era's paradoxical obsession with excessive sound processing and what experts like to call the meandering beat gangrene. Fast forward to 2014, the world once again finds itself in dire need of a solid banger - a good opportunity to reintroduce this remastered gem to a hungry crowd.
During its somewhat erratic release history, SIMON BAKER's PLASTIK has seen all sorts of single-sided vinyl variants on different labels, but a comprehensive edition including the stunning original and the much-acclaimed, genre-defying remix by TODD TERJE - a classic in its own right - was nowhere to be found. Being a Kompakt floor favorite since its initial release in 2007, the track simply demanded to be revisited - all bundled up with a sizzling 2014 version that takes the source's jittery sense of urgency and beefs it up with the dystopian dirt of contemporary house, turning an energetic sketch into a full-blown riot.
