Sciahri’s previous EP on Black Opal still gets plenty of spins, so I’ve been proper stoked for this one. As the neighbours car slips out of their driveway, it’s time to crank this mother up…
‘Insanity’ is first up, built on a foundation of deep Mike Parker style pulsating, bleeping and throbbing, and with a seriously pounding kick. Its an energetic cut, superbly constructed for peak-time on dark dancefloors. Its totally zoned/trippy with the crystal, glassy sounds coming out of the speakers like dancing particles that I feel I could reach out and pluck from the air.
‘Unease’ comes chugging and grinding in like a juggernaut - a huge rumbling rises up that threatens to explode in a violent euphoria but when the kick drums drop out it swerves an early peak which creates even more tension. This will tear the shit out of a club - immense, churning, futuristic, top drawer techno.
The gorgeous, celestial ‘Faith Healing’ doesn’t let up the energy either as it gallops along and ascends to the stars sucking me through a wormhole and spitting me out in pure heaven with lush ethereal, emotive synth.
Finally, the intensity of ‘Shambles’ seems to flood the space, with bubbling liquid pouring out the speakers so you better bring a snorkel to the party to catch your breath.
This is real deal, big boys toys, proper techno. Forget that cartoon shit. A 100% solid EP from beginning to end. A DJ could reach for any track on here and have the dancefloor munching out of the palm of their hand.
