Crosstalk is very happy to welcome this amazing label to our stable of exclusive labels. We were TWO DAYS late in scooping them up when they released their first EP, but persistence pays off, and they are finally in the fold. Bersa Discos began with new cumbia sounds coming out of Buenos Aires, but recent releases have expanded their scope to include artists from New York, Texas, The Netherlands, and Mexico.
Sabo is a veteran DJ from New York City who runs the well-respected Sol Selectas label, another pioneering Latin-flavored electronic music label. This release is a bit of a departure for him, in that it contains remixes and re-edits of cumbia and Colombian folk songs, including classics like "La Cumbia Cienaguera" and Toto la Momposina's "Curura". "Soundboy Cumbia" puts a new dancehall spin on El Hijo de la Cumbia's version of "Bombon Asesino" from the sold-out Bersa Discos #1. "La Negra Chula"is a Bmore version of the merengue classic.
Vinyl version limited to 500 copies worldwide.
