“I was warming up for Young Marco at a Greco-Roman party in Berlin a few years ago - his eclectic selection is really unique and incredibly tasteful. He turned my track into a luscious, dubbed-out arpeggiator jam.”
Marius Lauber AKA Roosevelt released his highly anticipated self-titled debut album via Greco-Roman / City Slang records last year, showcasing Lauber as a fully developed recording artist with an instinctive synthesis of different soundscapes. From a pinch of French electro pop, a smattering of LA yacht rock, the hypnotic repetition of German pioneers like Ash Ra Tempel/Manuel Göttsching, and Neu!, to classic floor-friendly 80s pop from Chic, Talk Talk, and New Order, even Todd Terje and Metro Area are all weaved into his own unique sonic tapestry.
Fast forward 6 months, and with his critically acclaimed debut still fizzing beneath the surface, Lauber has no intention of resting on his laurels. Returning to his roots as resident DJ at Cologne’s Total Confusion parties he asks his ‘personal heroes’ to turn his guitar licks and 4/4 kicks into deadly effective machine music.
“The Scandinavian disco scene was always a big influence to my sound so I'm really happy to have Kasper Björke and the disco-maestro himself Prins Thomas on Remixed 1”, explains Lauber, while ”a more dancefloor-heavy and techno-influenced version of ‘Colours’ comes from Tyler Pope, the bass player of one of my all time favourite bands LCD Soundsystem.
‘Remixed 2’ is graced by Hot Chip member and Greco-Roman co-founder Joe Goddard, fellow Cologne dance stars Andhim, personal friends Moscoman and Cleveland, US re-edit king Brennan Green and German legend and inspiration Justus Kohncke.
