Their storming ‘Caracol’ EP, Room 10 are back with another strong release on Metroline. Lead track ‘Los Gritos’ is a deep grinding groove with plenty of pace and movement. A solid bassline and heavy kicks underpin an intricate, mechanical soundscape. Synth washes flow through the mix, contrasting with the clanking, metallic percussion, but bringing out the manacing industrial atmosphere. The original mix of ‘Maxell’ is a more fluid affair - looser structure and sparing use of percussion gives it a progressive, techy feel. Greater emphasis on the vocals and an injection of latin funk creates a smooth vibe that moves and builds subtly through the track. On the flipside, the two men responsible for one of the hottest releases of the summer months (the ‘Horacio’ EP on Raum Musik), Metroline Limited golden boy Rio Padice and fellow Napoli based artist Massi DL, deliver a stunning remix of ‘Maxell’ under their Horacio moniker. Horacio’s remix is a smooth techhouse groove with a Chicago flavour. It is a Moodymann-esque vocal collage with simple, tight percussion reminiscent of Thomas Bangalter’s early releases - energetic yet soulful house music. The percussion at the heart of ‘Cumple’ drips and glides through the mix in a way that will have every part of your body moving to a different rhythm. Deep bass stabs develop until a new rhythm emerges and drives the track to the end.
