PARAMIDA’s Love On The Rocks imprint kicks off 2025 with a brand new EP courtesy of Retromigration & Niklas Wandt: Mineral House. The duo, collaborating here for the first time, have created five cuts of irresistible house music – a tapestry of analogue synths, drum machines, effects and computer wizardry. Shimmering high-end frequencies and ‘90s-inspired grooves with effervescent, liquid touches; life-affirming kicks, uplifting pads, amen breaks and vocal samples: it’s all here and quite unlike anything you’ve heard from them before. “We met in Amsterdam through a mutual friend and struck up an immediate connection, as jazz, funk and electronic music practitioners with similarly diverse interests and tastes,” explains Niklas. “On another visit a few months later, I showed Malik some demos I had recorded in Berlin that I liked but felt stuck with. Within a matter of a few minutes, he flipped them into a pumping and extremely funky beast that became our first track together. This spawned an on and off process over the next couple months of ping-ponging ideas and elements back and forth.” The result: an exquisite vision of ultra-fresh, glistening future house music from a bright sonic planet, replete with layers of intricate programming that bubble up like rarified elements around the listener, conjuring memories of ancient shapes and forms, joyfully untethered to the past, where magical fauna soar in the skies, and dance in celebration in the crystalline waters below.
