(including Raiden, Data and Amoss.) * This debut release for the duo sees them showcasing their novel approach to drum and bass: coupling their shared influence of the ancient and modern, East and West are adeptly combined with impeccable production standards. * 'Tradition' opens with rolling bongo percussion and cinematic hits instantly heighten the sense of drama; shards of a haunting flute melody - which evolves throughout the track - conjure up imagery of a bygone age of warring empires. The subtle musical elements of the composition are supported throughout by a pulsating sub accentuated by gnarling midrange; intricate tribal percussion and a 'half-time' rhythm are all interwoven to kaleidoscopic effect. * 'Mindstates' is a more contemplative offering, opening with flutes, taiko drums and mystic vocals which develop into an unexpected drop. The combination of detailed and dynamic drum work with a seismic sub provides what is required for the dance floor, whilst morphing midrange stabs and judiciously placed 'found sounds' contribute to the sense of mystery alluded to by the vocal sample. * This 12" will stand out as a timeless testament to the esoteric sensibilities which inspired it, as the production value and attention to detail in both tracks ensures that this release will retain the interest of the listener beyond the dance floor.
