Uzuri is proud to present this first release of 2011 – a sweet four tracker from a crew you may not have encountered before.Pittsburgh Track Authority is a stateside three-piece comprising Preslav Lefterov, Thomas Cox ( Who is responsible for the excellent “Infinitestatemachine” Blog ) and Adam Ratana – three longtime friends and musical compatriots who have, between them, been submerged in music and music production for many years. Collectively, this project is a rather more recent endeavour, though you wouldn’t necessarily guess that from these accomplished and self-assured tracks.First up, Duskshaped (a collaboration with fellow Pittsburgh native, Nice Rec), lays down the smooth, organic feel of the release, with some serious bass and keys pressure.Vertical Impact is a straight-up head-nodder – slow and moody; crackling drum samples and a gradually mounting set of synths that blow the track up to several times its original size. Not feeling any pressure to pick up the pace, Bloodlands pits crisp tones over shuffling drums and a thick-set bottom end, eventually giving way to an insistent, chanted call to the floor.77B concludes things for this release – once again with some incredibly infectious bass and organ work. Some classy strings complete the picture, over a restrained drum machine workout.‘The First Four’, then, but certainly not the last. You heard it here first.
