That’s life, One Dice…well you can’t disagree with that nor could you disagree that co-owner Pete Dafeet’s - Lost My dog Imprint is one of the most consistent underground house labels about. So we just had to get him on the good ship Ornate and smuggle some of that old LMD magic onboard…and he’s certainly done that. That’s Life, One Dice EP kicks of with the blissful Back where smooth pads wash over crisp rolling beats. This track is so deep you could probably pick up a copy from Davey Jones’ locker. He then takes things up a notch with Hole in Your Head a pumping party style house/rave hybrid reminiscent of Johnny Fiasco’s classic house cut Conduction. Imagine old school Warp-style bleeps coupled with modern technology and you are some way there. Better takes things deeper again with warm pads, aquatic bassline and euphoric chimes it will probably make you want to run and get your snorkelling kit out, or maybe just have a bath instead. CP’s Better Remix utilises Better’s stabs and layers them on top of a driving kick drum, twisted soulful vocal and some squelchy acid niceness. CP aka Chris Price is the promoter of the notorious What The Freak parties which Justin Unabomber likened to the first Electric Chair nights and enjoyed so much he asked if he could play there.
