The hugely popular AMERICAN ATHLETE blog from the mysterious Mr Pat Les Stache has become an invaluable resource for all eager disciples of the good groove. Their four volumes of expertly curated afro-funk and Disco Edits on CABANA DISCO have gained much praise, on account of being high quality, sublime and dancefloor friendly reconstructions from a true afficionado. Pat has once again delved into his vast personal collection to unearth some real gems, but aware they fell outside of the now established Cabana remit, decided to launch a side label dedicated to diversity. This debut release on ATHLETE EDITS is a killer. Starting off on the A Side is an edit of the ultra rare Black Jack 'I Am The Disco Machine', a seriously rocked out Disco vocal burner which sounds fresher than ever! A re-do of the Konga's marvellous 'Jungle' is next up, taking us on a dancefloor safari of epic proportions. Lastly, our personal favourite from an allstar selection is the rework of Ashra's 'Bamboo Sands' An awesome slab of mid-tempo cosmic bliss & another lost classic!
