Many dance music lovers who frequent creative music hubs such as CXEMA in Kiev, RABIZA and ARMA17 in Moscow or MOSAIQUE in St. Petersburg have already been introduced to Obgon’s live sets, Andrew Lee’s drilled-up high speed dancefloor project. He is also known as one half of Interchain - a live band that leads an energetic artistic life spanning from ambient sessions in abandoned industrial spaces, to playing high octane techno at the biggest festivals in Russia, such as the main stage of Present Perfect Festival right after AUX 88 and before Philipp Gorbachev. Andrew Lee is a rather calm guy who prefers action to talking about himself, but we do know that he quit his day job to focus on music.
Obgon’s (“overtake” in English) debut EP on PG TUNE accelerates from the very start above the comfortable 125 BPM speed limit. Think ‘Vanishing Point’ or ‘Road Rash 3D’, but also imagine Moscow - a huge megapolis under construction, with over 20 million inhabitants of all kind, spread far around the city centre, to endless suburbs… full of adventures and action. Where street sounds, heavy machinery, road dust, radio waves, engine smoke and steam are constantly vibrating in a titanic symphony. With early DJ support from Barnt, Ben UFO and Helena Hauff, there is no doubt in the dance floor functionality of Obgon’s revved up tracks.
Pressed on 180 gram vinyl and featuring brilliant art direction by ?????? for PG TUNE, the EP includes a download code, giving you access to an original sample pack recorded by Obgon in Moscow. Featuring over 50 scary sounds of rare heavy equipment machines like ?????, ?? - 2, ???????, all ready to be loaded in your samplers!
