Sometimes special events cause equally special responses, and we at THEMA must admit we felt blessed the first time around when Norm Talley stepped up for us and delivered one of our biggest bombs to date. Even with such a universally respected name, we just weren’t ready for all of the feedback we received; truly it was overwhelming, and we thank all of our followers and fans for letting us know how it sounds over there. But being as it is, the people have spoken, and since our business definitely is to give the people what they want, here it is: two more tracks of some of the most serious business we’ve ever heard from Norm delivered on our first-ever 10-inch. His bio hasn’t changed much since he last put his name on one of our plates, but when Norm told us he was ready to buckle down and pump out more new burners just for us, we braced ourselves. We have to say he exceeded even our highest expectations. Call this Transmissions, Chapter 2: Norm Talley Tackles Techno. Yes, you heard that right… In spite of 3 tracks on the original Transmissions that fell a little closer to what the heads would expect from a very reliable source, it was that first one that everyone begged for more of. We must agree that those 3 minutes were just a little of a tease, so here is the full 9-minute extended cut of “Man on the Moon” that all of you asked for, and what a trip it is! Certainly funky broken-beat techno is a new look for Norm, but it’s pretty obvious in all 9 of the minutes here that this is a man from Detroit making the music he knows best. There’s a groove and a touch here that speaks of soul and experience… although you may find this one in the crates of some of the new school techno elite, it’s safe to say they couldn’t have made it the way Norm Talley did. Even if you remember part one you may be surprised where he takes it, but we’re even more pleased to say that “Earth 2 Moon” beats it at its own game. This one made our necks snap and heads turn the very first time
