'Mallumo' is the introspective and therapeutic works of Nottingham born musician, producer and composer Neil Tolliday.
Known to most simply as Nail, on this his first solo LP under his given name, Tolliday releases four meditative dark ambient pieces recorded between 2010 and 2015 that explore the depths of his psyche.
Made as a direct response to a period of clinical depression this self therapy gave birth to soundscapes that branch between hope, tranquility and torment as a man searched for solace through sound and his own creativity resulting in the listener being taken on a heady ride through their own subconscious mind.
Limited to 300 copies, this 180 gram double vinyl LP comes with your own Utopia Project incense and a download code for the full hour long versions of each movement.
Cover photography shot and printed by Michael Bradley, Design and curation by Alexander Bradley for Utopia Records, London 2019.

BIOGRAPHY
Born in Nottingham in 1974, Neil Tolliday's exploration into music started at an early age, a self taught musician Tolliday's mother would allow him to play the pianos in the local Parish and Methodist churches if he supported her with her job as the cleaner.
From these humble beginnings in 1991 aged 16, Tolliday took his talents to legendary club Venus where here jammed on synthesisers whilst resident Paul Wain DJ'd to packed dance floors of early 90's ravers.
Productions soon followed, when in 1993 Nail made his debut releasing the seminal trance / rave classic 'Cassiopeia' on DIY discs and soon became a main stay of the label
After a decade where he established himself as one of the UK's great producers of house and techno music Tolliday schooled himself whilst working behind the counter at legendary Nottingham record shop Selectadisc on various music and ideas leading to the partnership with fellow Nottingham bred Simon Mills and electronic group Bent.
From 1999 through to the mid 2000's releasing five albums, garnering real success with their Debut 'Programmed To Love' which catapulted then to headlining The Big Chill and supporting the likes of Orbital and Faithless as well as their own global tours.
After the conclusion of Bent with their final album in 2006 (apart from the "Best Of" and "From The Vaults" comps) there were a few lost years in London, making weird soundscape and dark ambient stuff, followed by going back to house music, DJing at places like Fabric (London), Rex Club (Paris), Tresor (Berlin), Sonar (Barcelona) to name just a few.
Also setting up the 89:Ghost label.
Matthew Dear included a Smoke track on his DJ Kicks LP. Rapid Cycling label.
Tolliday's approach is always authentic to his art with a growing discography that will serve musical purists for years to come.
His debut Solo LP Mallumo on Utopia Records shows this honesty of approach.
