The first release in 2012 from the KAT label arrives in the shape of this great 4 tracker from Manchester's Neil Diablo. Kicking things off is 'Cannae Believe'. An Italo come New York dubbed out Disco cut with synth stabs and 'Love is the Message-esque' pads floating over moody as Proto-House beats with sassy vocals to boot. Next up is 'Disco Special', a mid-tempo melter which shifts between guitar led Balearica, funky basslines, synth lines and a gloriously loose killer groove which teases right to the death... oh, and space toms a-plenty. BIG ! On the flip things are taken down a notch or two in terms of tempo... 'For Your Love' is a 2Step Soul gem originally recorded by the 'Fat Gaines Band ft. Zorina' and released in 1982. Stretched, diced and strung beautifully back together this has Summer anthem written all over it. Finishing things off is 'Christina Debs - Behind Bars'. Originally out on Ze Records and produced in Detroit by Don Was in 1984, this nu-wave Disco low-slung chugger adds another dimension to proceedings and this EP feels all the mightier for it.
