Maxi Discs continue their journey into bio rhythms with a set of Ray Mang versions of the title track from hot new producer Marius’s up and coming LP ‘Jet Set’. Marius, who made his first waves as a producer on Prins Thomas’s Full Pupp label, got a fantastic response with his debut solo outing on Maxi Discs ‘Disco Drummer’. That release was supported by a wide spectrum of DJs such as Ashley Beedle, Prins Thomas, Aeroplane, The Unabombers, Mark E, the Revenge, Faze Action and Horse Meat Disco. With its nostalgic, yet forward looking blend of classic NY House and disco elements, the Marius sound is very much what Maxi Discs is all about. And who better to push this sound on than the wonderful talent that is Ray Mang! An excellent DJ and a highly talented producer, Raj has been inspired by the extended disco mixes, dub versions and edits of luminaries like Larry levan, Walter Gibbons, Danielle Baldelli, Tee Scott, Began Cekic and Tom Moulton. His early releases on the now legendary Noid releases and his own Mangled imprint have become highly sought after underground classics, and his music has been supported by Harvey, Giles Peterson, Dimitri From Paris, The Glimmers, Daniel Wang, Idjut Boys and Andrew Weatherall amongst many others. More recently he has worked with The Glimmers and has released an LP of his own work on Eskimo, as well as re-activating his own Mangled imprint and completing an EP for the uber cool DFA label. On this release, Raj reworks the uplifting housey pianos and crisp, punchy beats of Marius’s original version of ‘Jet Set’ and hits the full on Loft Party button to peak the track in true Mangled style. While on the flip, he gets deep and dirty with a classic Mang style ‘Bonus Beats’ version that sets lazers and delays to stun and aims with every squelch to work that dance floor to the max.
