Marcus Price & Carli have been leading DJs in the Swedish electronic scene for almost 10 years. Both accomplished producers - Carli is one half of Savage Skulls (Dubsided) and one half of Stay Gold (Magnatron) - while Marcus Price, also known as Basutbudet, produced the infamous rapper Mapei's debut release. He is also a member of the noted hip hop group Fattaru, who reached the uppermost echelons of musical success in Scandinavia in the early 00's. Marcus and Carli's first official collaboration, "Mat Bira Kvinnor Weed" (which translated means 'Food Beer Women Weed") is an impossible-to-define wiggling booty bass track - described by XLR8R as "robotic dancehall that never loses its propulsive steam" - it pulses with deep toms, chopped vocal scratching, and ghetto tech whistles. The b-side, "Var E Nken" (translated to Where is Nken) is an ode to their formerly incarcerated buddy. Along the same lines as the A-side, this track goes even further into the realm of bass cabinet destruction - with a similar scratched vocal style and screeching whistles, this time over enormous 808 bass drops, and persistent snares. On remix duty, we've enlisted a veritable who's who of up-and-coming bass music. Heavy bass royalty Kingdom delivers a mix of the A-side that leaves much of the original intact, but intensifies the low-end further than seemingly possible. He adds diva vocal chops and percussion for good measure. Austin's Dubbel Dutch gives us a smooth UK Funky version of the A-side complete with warm sub bass, staggered drums, and emotive synths. On the B-side, UK dance music prince Bok Bok takes a cue from detroit, and crafts a twisted journey of roaring sub bass, razor sharp claves, toms, and warbling synths. Girl UNIT, whose stock is ready to skyrocket - give us a haunting journey through house and juke, laced with FM synths, 909 claps, and perfect percussion. Finally, Kansas' own Norrit delivers an ode to the old school - a beefy house rendition - with distorted stabs, subdued hoovers, big toms and crazed snares. This might just be the most complete package we at Palms Out have ever delivered, and we couldn't be more proud!
