The next single release from the Immerse label sees Brendon Moeller and Shigeru Tanabu reappear under their Manaboo moniker for some superb electro-techno and broken beat mayhem... Brendon Moeller should need little introduction to most, he has been a much hailed artist recording under his own name as well as pseudonym’s such as Beat Pharmacy and Echologist for the last decade. His work with Francois K’s Wave Music label as well as his releases for the likes of Connaisseur and Mule Electronic have gained him a dedicated fanbase, whilst more recently his own Steadfast label has seen him putting out a string of quality releases. Shigeru Manabu may be a name that is not as familiar to the masses, but the influence of this producer, vocalist and multi instrumentalist should not be overlooked. His 2009 release for Wave Music was one of the label’s biggest successes of the year and prior to that he has been a close musical collaborator on several of Moeller’s artist albums.
At the beginning of 2010, Moeller and Tanabu, became Manaboo with the release of their awesome debut single on Steadfast. Now they are back with an incredible follow up. The A side cut, ‘Delinquent’ is a wonderful slice of electro fuelled techno that comes on like the modern bastard child of Lil’ Louis and Model 500. Skittering percussion and sub bass provide a bed for dreamy filtered pads and washes of synths as the whole track builds in intensity to its perfect climax. The flipside ‘SB Massive’ is a dubbed out journey into the outer realms of bass heavy electronica, taking in off kilter drums, delayed chords and the heavily effected ‘Sound Boy Massive’ vocal, pure class. Immerse have done it again, providing a superb release that evades genre classification and simply provides great electronic music...
