With Madera Limpia, Man Recordings temporarily moves from it's Brazilian focus and looks up to the Carribean for an exciting new band – Madera Limpia. This band is the sound of young Cuba. Real, contemporary, explosive, and far away from the nostalgic cliché of Buena Vista Social Club. The six musicians from Guantánamo fuse Son and Changui with Hip Hop and Reggaeton, mixed with pulsating beats. Their music mirrors the culture and everyday life of a new generation which listens to hip hop, dancehall or reggaeton but doesn't ignore the vast musical traditions of Cuba. Madera Limpia texts reflect real life. Instead of joining the rest of the lot recycling the worn out myth of the colourful decaying Havana, cigars and rum; they talk about the hardships of life in a burnt out Cuba on the verge of change; with only music to ease the pain..
